Remember way back in 2000 when somebody stole Nicolas Cage's copy of Action Comics No. 1, the landmark 1938 comic that introduced the world to Superman? Well, Lionsgate is going to make a movie out of that now. The issue was missing until 2011, when it was discovered among the contents of an abandoned storage locker. It sold for a record $2.1 million at auction in November.
Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon wrote the comedy and are also is producing along withPeter Principato and Paul Young. The story revolves around a group of nerds who attempt to steal Cage's copy of Action Comics No. 1. Kind of reminds me of Fanboys, a small group of Star Wars geeks who break into Skywalker Ranch to watch Yhe Phantom Menace.
The part of Cage was written for him in mind but it's unlikely he'll be a part of this. Jason Statham's name has been mentioned for some strange reason. He has been in a few heist films but I don't think this one is for him. We'll keep you posted as more develops
