Dan Aykroyd Confirms: Bill Murray Isn't Doing GHOSTBUSTERS 3

Sadly Dan Aykroyd has finally put this old horse to rest and confirmed that Bill Murray will not do GHOSTBUSTERS 3. In a recent interview with the Telegraph Aykroyd shared the news and his feelings on the matter. We all kind of knew that Murray wasn't going to do this, we was just hoping he would and there's nothing wrong with that.

First off Aykroyd gives the status on where the movie is at right now;
"At this point it's in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie."
Next he comments on why Murray won't be a part of a third entry;
 "He doesn't want to be involved. He's got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He's into this life and living it. I know we'd have a lot of fun [but] I can't be mad at him. He's a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn't want to know."
Aykroyd also commented on if the movie will go forward.
 "We're not going to do a movie that exploits the franchise. The script has to be perfect. I'm the cheerleader, but I'm only one voice in the matter. It's a surety that Bill Murray will not do the movie, however there is still interest from the studio."
If Murray doesn't want to do the movie so be it but I wish he would pay attention to all of the fans who have been behind this for so long now. You know, he kind of got the fans up when he showed up in his Ghostbusters uniform a few years back! I do think it has to do with his huge ego but I understand that the movie doesn't need to be made if the script isn't right. These studios only want to make a dollar so maybe they should just leave this franchise dead and buried before it is ruined.

I don't think we've seen the end of this! Do you?
