Blu-ray Review: COLUMBUS CIRCLE

COLUMBUS CIRCLE is a cool new crime-thriller that includes an all-star cast.

The movie immediately starts off with an elderly getting murdered and moves right to the reclusive millionaire neighbor Abigail next door played by Selma Blair. A couple movies in where the elderly woman was murdered and instantly become unwanted trouble for Abigail. She confides in her doctor and family friend played by Beau Bridges who helps her to deal with her past of mental and physical abuse which is why she is the reclusive person that she's become but he also has a few ulterior motives.

The couple, played by Amy Smart and Jason Lee are actually coon artists/thieves who are out to get Abigail's fortune by playing to her emotions. she eventually catches on but not before more lives are lost. She ultimately stops what is happening to her and is even  able to step out from her reclusive nature enough to turn the tables on the ones trying to con and steal from her.

The rest of  this impressive cast includes Kevin Pollak, Jason Antoon and Giovanni Ribisi but it's Lee, Smart and especially Blair who are the heart of the story but seeing Lee get into this character was an awesome watch since I was used to seeing him in comedic roles.. Columbus Circle is directed magnificently by  George Gallo who sets the thrilling tone to the crime-thriller.another thing I liked about the movie is the score playing in the background, it just seemed to make it a much better and enjoyable watch!

The entire cast puts on a great performance in Columbus Circle that offers an equally matching story. It's a breath of fresh air to get an original thriller once and a while like this one!

Bottom line is Columbus Circle is a cool twisty thriller with an awesome cast! I really enjoyed this movie on Blu-ray but wish it would have had some special features, at least some commentary!  Look for it on DVD and Blu-ray on March 6th.  3.5/5
