Vin Diesel told Heat Vision that Fast 5 director Justin Lin and screenwriter Chris Morgan have come up with a story for Fast and the Furious 6 but would need two movies to tell the story so the seventh movie is happening. The movies are currently being written. No word if it will be two stand alone movies or two parters.
Here's what Diesel told THR;
“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space.One things for sure is Fast 5 made loads of money ($626 million worldwide) and the studio has a lot of faith in director Justin Lin and his writing partner Morgan. The idea for the next installment must be a good one for sure to have the green light to do this.
Diesel shared more on returning some original characters, the movies and what the studios opinion of the story;
“We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages. The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’"Co-star Paul Walker finishes off with this;
“It’s not about the action and the cars, which initially appealed to me when I was 25 years old. Because if that’s all it was, it would have fallen off a long time ago.”So are y'all excited about this franchise making it to at least seven movies? Fast 5 was pretty darn good so if they keep telling great stories do you think the franchise can keep going or should they end it?
