Watching the unrated version of COLOMBIANA on Blu-ray was an awesome watch plus how can you go wrong putting the beautiful Zoe Saldana in the lead.
The movie follows ten year old Cataleya (Amandla Stenberg) who witnesses her parents murders by the local cartel. She narrowly escapes, finds refuge with an uncle in America and ultimately becomes an assassin set on revenge.
Fast forward years later and we see an adult and very attractive Cataleya played by Saldana who has now become an assassin and a very good one. We watch her and the tricks and the trade she brings with her fooling everyone around her. She meets a love interest, Danny Delaney (Michael Vartan) who gets a little curious about her and also becomes a bit of an
Saldana proves she has what it takes to play the leading lady plus delivers an outstanding performance in this action flick. Luc Besson (Taken, The Transporter movies) and Robert Mark Kamen wrote the screenplay for Colombiana with Olivier Megaton behind the lens taking us on this action packed journey of revenge covering three countries. The foreign scenery is beautiful. All of the action scenes were performed well, the supporting cast is great and from beginning to end the camera didn't miss a thing. Really the only flaw the movie has is it has a few slow scenes, nothing too bad though. It definitely won't lose you.
Getting back to Zoe Saldana who is the heart of the movie. Her gritty sex appeal sells this movie that could have been just another action movie. Saldana's performance is without flaw! Watching her character in some of these stunts looks like she could have been trained by Ethan Hunt from the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Bottom line is I enjoyed Colombiana on Blu-ray. It's a great action movie to check out and even add to your collection plus it has the new ultraviolet instant stream option that is the latest craze with movies. The movie hits store shelves on December 20th. 3.5/5
