THE WALKING DEAD Heading To German Free TV In 2012
Free-to-air network RTL 2 has secured rights to the hit zombie AMC series THE WALKING DEAD with plans to debut the series in 2012.
The hit series currently only airs on German pay TV channel FOX. Germany’s pay TV market is comparatively small but its’ free TV audience, and advertising market, is the biggest in Western Europe.
The strategy to bring The Walking Dead in is to help because so far it has failed to work. RTL 2’s U.S. series highlights haven't seen much success HBO’s True Blood to Showtime’s Dexter and Californication have consistently underperformed with German free TV audiences.
