Watching OUR IDIOT BROTHER on Blu-ray was entertaining but not as funny as I thought it would be.
Paul Rudd takes the lead as Ned in this feel good comedy. Ned is an organic farmer who is always down on his luck and getting in trouble but tries to see the positive side of things. He ends up back at his mother's house and hops around from there to his three sisters who can barely tolerate him in the beginning. He unknowingly stirs things up with everyone because he has a hard time communicating, but he does mean well.
Ned's sisters are played by Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer who all entertain and are completely different from each other. Each sister is going through problems in their lives and of course we watch Ned try to help but sometimes just makes things worse. Rashida Jones also puts on a great performance as one of the sister's "girlfriend". Steve Coogan makes an appearance and fits right in with Ned's world. As the movie wraps it brings the family closer together and Ned, who is always happy go luck finally grows up some.
Our Idiot Brother is a light-hearted comedy. I've seen Rudd in much funnier roles but his character Ned does have some hilarious moments. He's just a good guy who doesn't want to hurt or offend anyone. Banks, Coogan and Jones also stand out in the movie, oh yeah and Ned's dog "Willie Nelson", any movie that has a dog with that name should be checked out.
Bottom line is if you're looking for a new comedy to watch or if you're a fan of Rudd and company then be sure to check out Our Idiot Brother [Blu-ray]
