THR reports that Warner Brothers has hired Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce to write SHERLOCK HOLMES 3, yep, Part 2 isn't even out yet but the third one has been green lit. If you remember the same thing was done for Sherlock Holmes 2, the writers were hired before the first movie ever came out.
Sherlock Holmes: A game Of Shadows opens on December 16th and we'll probably see the third one in two years, probably around the same time.
