So, what if you was walking through the woods and you found a "wild" woman there, in the middle of nowhere? THE WOMAN tells this story and the consequences that go along with it. I'm going to try and tell you about this movie without actually sharing any spoilers.
First off, you can tell somethings not quite right with Chris Cleek (Sean Bridgers) who comes across as a loving family man but this guy has lots of things he's hiding. Cleek finds this wild woman in the middle of the woods and decides he's going to try and "domesticate" her, he has no idea how hard this is going to be!
We watch Cleek put the woman (Pollyanna McIntosh) in his cellar and chains her up. What happens is a chain of events that slowly shows us that this woman might be wild but she's not stupid and it is also revealed that Cleek's wife (Angela Bettis) and their children are pretty frightened of him. Cleek has many secrets and there's even one that gets revealed later in the movie that completely throws you for a loop!
Getting to the characters in this movie. Each one has their own uniqueness about them and they all standout and have their own important story to tell that slowly reveals who the real monster is in The Woman. We get a few scenes that have the "shock" factor to them, did I mention I love that?
Bottom line is The Woman is one of the best movies I've watch in 2011 and Lucky McKee really knows how to tell a story!. The movie is awesome and original but I would have liked a little bit more of a back story on the woman herself. The cast is great and the acting is the heartbeat of this movie. Bridgers, Bettis and McIntosh are perfect! Highly recommended! 4/5
