Movie Review: ALIEN ARMAGEDDON (2011)

Alien Armageddon is the latest alien invasion flick that has its eyes on Los Angeles for some reason. Why’s all the aliens want to go to L.A.? Anyway, the movie starts off with a bang, lots of cool special effects and action scenes and then slowly fades into a plain movie that sometimes gets confusing.

The movie follows a female who gets abducted and held in the alien concentration camp, or whatever you call it. She meets up with other captives and they share stories. They watch the aliens and their behavior to learn how to take advantage of them and their few weaknesses and learning some surprising secrets while doing so.

Director Neil Johnson threw in so many puking scenes that it’s really noticeable and ridiculous and that’s not all but I wont go in to that. The special effects are the standouts of the movie, well and the alien costumes which were simply but still pretty cool. I fell like if they would have cut the first 10 minutes of pure action and spliced it in the rest of the movie it could have been more fun to watch. Seriously, as the movie goes it just gets more boring, to the point of losing interest. After mid-way it also bounces all over the place, from one character and then all of a sudden you’re seeing someone else and asking, “who the hell is this”?

The acting and characters in the movie is good but still can’t save the film for what it is, a complete disaster that has potential. The character development itself could have been a little better and in depth but gets rushed through.

Bottom line is if you are out of things to watch and just want to give this a try then go ahead. It’s slow and really boring at times and I believe it holds the record for how many times people can puke in one movie.  If you want to take a chance, Alien Armageddon is available on VOD now. 2/5
