Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome has its 2 hour pilot in the can with a series already greenlit by Syfy but the BSG prequel will be very expensive and to date Syfy has yet to give the pilot or series a release date but we should see it later this year or early 2012.
Vice president of original programming at Syfy, Mark Stern, has even announced the network is weighing whether BSG: Blood and Chrome will appear as an online series or be brought in as a backdoor pilot on the network, as originally planned.
I think Syfy is a little worried with Caprica's failure and with Ronald Moore not being involved with this series at all. Moore brought BSG back to the spotlight and it became an instant and huge success but he has now moved on to other projects although many of the shows writers and producers are on board for BSG: Blood and Chrome.
