SPLICE Gets Picked Up By Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment
The creepy looking cool ass horror/sci-fi flick SPLICE from Director Vincenzo Natali and producer Guillermo del Toro just got picked up by Joel Silver'sDark Castle Entertainment after a great showing atthe Sundance Film Festival. My GeekTyrant brother Dr. Venkman was lucky enough to see it and has a few words about it that you can check out here. I'm calling this the surprise hit of the year, I called it way back last year and I'm standing by my uneducated guess because 'Dren' the mutant is hot and creepy all at the same time! A lot of money was put behind the pick up of this cool film, way more than any other kind of festival film and will open to a wide theatrical release of an estimated 3,000 screens! That's a lot for a horror movie people! This makes me happy and everybody knows they need to keep me happy!
Synopsis:Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators - only to have that bond turn deadly.
